Cracking an Interview

Cracking an Interview is not easy , it requires skill. If you are here then it means that you are going for your first ever interview or you have tried a lot but got rejected every single time. Don't lose hope, here are some useful tips that may help you crack your Interview and achieve your dream job.

Lets start with the basics and how an interview is done. Basically there are two types of interviews .

1. INFORMAL INTERVIEW .

2. FORMAL INTERVIEW.

1.Informal Interview.

The Informal Interviews are very rare and these are done when the interviewer is tight on schedule , travelling or few other cases. These are very easy to crack , all you need is some Trust on yourself it goes in a very informal way.

You will be invited to a meal or public place for the interview , things we need to keep in mind are :

1. Neat and simple dressing manner.

For Men wear a shirt with simple designs and a jeans . don't wear slippers and sandals ,always prefer boots or sneakers. You need not to have an tie or tuck your shirt. make sure your hair style is clean and professional. Applying a mild perfume is preferred.

for Women dress with pleasing colored is expected, don't wear party wear shorts and tight wear . make sure the hair is combed and neat .A mild perfume is preferred and coming to foot wear use heals or sneakers depending on the dress. Using make up is allowed but don't use high amount's.

2. Carry your certificates .

Make sure the certificates are carried in file. And the file is to be carried in a bag.

3. Know about the company.

Its always a good habit to know about the company before attempting an interview. know there recent achievements and failures , who their high ranked crew are .

4. Follow table manners .

If food is ordered , don't start eating right away . the most important thing in the informal interviews is the manners you follow. Be polite to the waiter, prefer what is easy to eat than what you like . don't play with the spoon and fork , or spill any thing. Never answer while chewing or food is in your mouth .take your own time and be comfortable. try to giggle when the interviewer cracks a joke never become too comfortable and laugh as you usually do. Use paper towels to wipe any food on your mouth or hands.

2. Formal interview

In the case of an Formal Interview there will be a board (3 or more members to interview).there are may things to follow during these interviews and this is the most common way.

1. Follow the dress code. Different companies and industries have different expectations of how candidates or the employees should dress. The appropriate dress code can alter depending on the company, industry, and location.

Men:

All clothes should fit well ironed and without any kind of stains.

>Suit in a solid color such as navy, black, or dark gray.

>Long-sleeved shirt that is white or color coordinated with the suit.

>Leather belt.

>Tie.

>Dark socks and conservative leather shoes.

>Little or no jewelry.

>Neat, professional hairstyle with trimmed nails.

Women:

> Suits, skirt just below or above the knee.

> Coordinated blouse.

> Conservative shoes.

> Limited jewelry.

> neat and professional hairstyle.

>No very large dangling earrings or arms full of bracelets.

> Neutral-colored pantyhose.

> Light makeup and a limited amount of perfume.

> Clean, neatly manicured nails.

Apart from the above points some of the important things to follow by both men and women are have a mouth freshener (avoid chewing gums) with you so that your breath doesn't stink. Try to cover all the tattoos ,The common mistake that everyone dose is not turning off your smart phone.(don't put your mobile in vibration also make sure its in silent mode or switched off ) and try to make an unique resume or cv.

Now the above are all called Pre interview preparations. What about the time of Interview ?

During an Interview always follow theses things.

1. Always be at least 20 mins prior to the interview center .
2. Have your files organized.
3. Do not panic.
4. prepare your General Knowledge.
5. Go through the companies website and background details.
6. prepare your resume (some interviewers may ask the questions from the Resume)
7. Have patience wait till your called .( Many interviews try making people wait to check if the persons patience and interest towards the company.)
8. If you have any candidates beside you play smart (the person may be an interviewer) never speak rubbish while you are at an interview.
9. When you are called in , check your dress code and then enter the room.
10. Knock on the door before entering.
11. wish them right as you enter.(in case there are above 2 people just say good morning or good After noon or what ever , need not wish everyone separately.)
12. Stand until they ask you to sit.(if they don't ask you take the seat , wait for few time and once you feel uncomfortable ask them if you can have your seat.)
13. Do not place your files on the table unless they ask you to do so.(put them on your lap)
14. Try controlling not to shake your legs and hands .
15. Appear comfortable and confident.
16. In case they ask question which you have no idea , don’t try to bluff .
17. In case of an emotional or family based question , you have the right to claim it as an personal question.(these do not include asking names of parents , what they do , economical status etc.)
18. If they come up with a logical question think outside of the box and try to impress them with your answer. Say for example if an situation is given where you need to choose between your rare interview which you put all efforts to get in ,which once cracked ,you will become a famous person, and the girl who can never stop loving you and your family. These questions never have an exact answer it just depends on the persons way of thinking , so you can come up with an answer saying I would choose the girl .As money and fame can be earned anytime and anywhere ,if that company is taking me in it means that I have some skill .so I am sure that I can be placed in any company with my caring and loving girl.
19. Never get angry or emotional .
20. If asked about any skill which you don’t know , say you will learn it soon.
21. If asked about any Negative qualities, never say your flaws . Say some thing which you have done wrong in the interview and say i will definitely develop in that skill too.
22. Before leaving say ‘Thank you” and give an hand shake if they are willing to.
23. If the interviewer is an cool and cracks jokes , don’t totally comfort your self , you definitely need to maintain some standards to reach their expectations.
24. Ask them when you can expect a recruitment letter (this shows the trust on yourself.)
25. If asked why should we hire you ?. Say your strengths an say you could be a backbone to the company and they would miss one of the best employ if they didn’t hire you.
